SOCIAL SQUAD SESSIONS

Our sessions run from 12.30 to 2.30 on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, in Farnborough.
We are currently taking children age 6-10 who are in part-time education, or require alternative provision or EOTAS

The focus of the sessions is to build play skills, communication and relationship skills, as well as developing school readiness and learning-to-learn skills. We also help children learn about their emotions and how to express them. The session has a maximum of 6 children with 4 adults so that we can incorporate 1:1 teaching as well as group and play-based support for every child. The group size is kept deliberately small in order to provide a calm, nurturing and therapeutic setting. Session Format Our activities are carefully selected and tailored to each child’s strengths, needs and interests.

Our sessions provide the perfect setting to develop your child’s skills and support their areas of difficulty through fun activities and child-led learning. The initial week will be devoted to getting to know your child and building a trusting relationship with them. Following this a bespoke support plan will be developed for your child. Every session, one of our team will work with your child one-to-one on the skills they need in order to support their communication, interaction and play, as well as developing their understanding of language, based on their assessment results.
Progress will be carefully monitored and parents will be provided with a summary of progress every 6 weeks. We want to work closely with parents and can provide additional support with issues arising at home, such as picky eating, independence skills or sleep can be addressed on request. We will work with you to both support your child in our sessions and at home.
We also love to collaborate with professionals from other fields, so if your child is currently receiving specialised support, then that is not a problem. We feel that our sessions complement existing programmes by providing a space where skills can be generalised to a new setting, but with the continued approach used at home.
Sessions can also provide children with the opportunity to develop their group skills and build their interactions with peers, which can be difficult to implement either in the home or a typical education setting.
